Congratulations to:

Louis Burns, Executive Producer of Derry Musicians and Artists for Foyle Hospice for completion of a CD dedicated to the memory of former DPW member Steven Connolly. The CD will be launched at Sandino's Pub, Derry on Thursday, 4 October 2001 @ 2:30pm.

Congratulation also to two other DPW members: Madeline McCully, for the cover design,
and Aisling Doherty, one of its vocalists. The CD will be available at Cool Disks on Strand Road with proceeds donated to Foyle Hospice.

Final Reminder:

Yabo Yablonsky Script Writing Master Class (play and film) begins Tuesday, 9 October
2001 @ 2:00pm. There are a few openings still available. To enroll, contact Margie Bernard at margiebdc@eircom.net. There is no fee for this work shop.

Yablonsky will also direct his play 'Jews With out Money' featuring local talent. There are 18 roles in this play, six of them for young people under the age of 20. Auditions will be held 8, 9, 10 & 11 October atthe Derry Playhouse beginning at 4:00pm.

We have notified drama classes at local secondary schools and youth drama groups as well as adult drama groups. If you know of any such groups we should contact, please let us know.

Perseverance Pays Award:

Our first annual Perseverance Pays Award will be given to the writer who has received the most rejection slips this past year! This will be awarded at our Annual General Membership Meeting
17 October 2001.

Second Annual General
Membership Meeting:

Our second AGM will be held on Wednesday, 17 October 2001 beginning at 2:00pm in our office/meeting room on the second floor of 10-16 Pump
Street.

As required by our Constitution, we will consider the Annual Report of work done by or under the auspices of the Management Committee; a report of our financial status; election of officers and members to serve on the Management Committee; and the transaction of other such matters as may be considered necessary.

We will be sending you additional information prior to our meeting. If you cannot attend but wish to have some matter considered by the AGM, please submit it in writing no later than 10 October 2001.

We provide tea, support and sympathy for lost and lonely writers! Get out of your garret and join us at our space located at 10-16 Pump
Street, second floor, every Wednesday from Noon until 4:00pm.
